☿LEARNING TO UNLEARN☿

Is it normal to listen back to parts of songs you’ve recorded and start crying, or is something wrong with me?

Also that post about sex workers in industrial music is amazing, I've never known many artists I admire had previously worked as sex workers that makes me admire their art even more because it's brutally honest and based on the real world.

It’s interesting because “sex worker” is a pretty common background among female and femme/nonbinary noise artists, including those who just don’t talk about it much or who consciously choose not to portray that aspect of their lives openly in their art.

I made examples out of those four artists (Cosey Fanni Tutti, Mayuko Hino, Debbie Jaffe, and Lisa Carver) because they’re artists from the early years (‘70s/'80s) and it was to simply illustrate that industrial and noise were partially born from the minds of sex workers.

These twin/sibling genres of music were created by people on the periphery of acceptable society and was meant to provoke strong feelings in the listener/observer. Of course, nothing provokes strong feelings quite like women who take charge of their sexuality and are unashamed of it.

I like the depth you bring and you could call it a historical background of artists and genres great blog!

Happy 52nd birthday, Richard D. James.

I don’t want to die, I just want to go on vacation for a few weeks and be symbolically “dead” to everything familiar during that time frame.

This new dashboard layout is bad…abysmally bad.

Caterina Barbieri playing the wedding ceremony of Kali Malone and Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O)))), Wyoming, USA, July 2023.

I try to ignore or overlook the reblogged commentary on content I post to Women of Noise, but one of them is sticking out to me. Let me make something clear:

Kali Malone is 29 years old. She’s not a baby. She’s a grown-ass woman. If she wants to marry a like-minded musician who is a bit older than she is, she has every right to. It’s not like Stephen O'Malley is some kind of creep who snatched her up right out of high school. She’s had almost three decades on this planet so far.

Age differences in relationships happen sometimes and yes, it’s not for everyone - I myself don’t feel comfortable dating out of my age range - but if love naturally occurs between two consenting adults with a bit of a gap in their age, that’s nobody’s fucking business but theirs. Sorry, but some of y'all really need to grow up.
